The MetaRenamer app does not collect, store, transmit, or share personal data. If you buy MetaRenamer Pro for the direct-download version of the app, your purchase is processed by Stripe, as described under “Purchases” below.
Core file processing happens locally on your Mac. The app contains no analytics, advertising, or user accounts.
The Mac App Store version is updated by the App Store. The direct-download version checks this website for a newer version about once a day, using the open-source Sparkle update framework. The check downloads a small update list; it sends no personal data, files, or license key, and Sparkle's optional system-profile reporting is turned off. You can check manually with MetaRenamer > Check for Updates…. Like any request to this website, Cloudflare may keep short-lived technical logs, such as IP addresses.
Mac App Store version: the optional Pro purchase and free trial are handled by Apple through StoreKit. The developer does not receive your name, email address, or payment details.
Direct-download version: MetaRenamer Pro is sold through Stripe, which acts as the merchant of record. Stripe collects the information needed to complete and tax the sale, such as your email address, payment details, and billing country, under the Stripe Privacy Policy. The developer can see the order details Stripe provides, such as your email address, country, and amount paid, and uses them only to deliver your license, provide support, and keep business records. Your full card number is never shared with the developer.
After checkout you are taken to a license page on this website. It asks Stripe to confirm the order was paid and then shows your license key. The page does not save your order; like most websites, the hosting provider (Cloudflare) may keep short-lived technical logs, such as IP addresses, for security.
Your license key includes your email address and order reference. It is stored only on your Mac and is checked offline; the app never sends it anywhere.
MetaRenamer reads and renames only files you explicitly provide by dragging them into the app or selecting them through the macOS Open panel. In the Mac App Store version, the macOS sandbox also limits access to files and folders you authorize.
Saved rename presets and the interface language choice are stored locally in the app's support folder on your Mac. They are not uploaded.
The optional AI Rename feature uses Apple's on-device Foundation Models to suggest filenames from a file's own text. Processing remains on your Mac; file content is not sent to the developer or a third party.
The app contains no trackers or advertising and collects no data from anyone, including children. Its only third-party code is the open-source Sparkle update framework, in the direct-download version only. The only third-party services involved are Apple (App Store purchases and updates), Stripe (direct-download purchases), and Cloudflare (hosting this website and the direct-download updates).
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a revised effective date.
